FAQs

What products are in your kit?

All of the items in my kit are luxury, professional products that have been carefully selected by myself that photograph beautifully, are long lasting & maintain a natural finish. The majority of brands I use are certified cruelty free and vegan where possible. I am constantly re-investing in my kit to provide the best service I can for my brides.

Do you travel?

Yes, I can travel upon request to any destination required. The cost of over night stay (if required) & travel will be included within your quote, we will discuss this at the time of booking.

What steps are required to book?

I am delighted you would like to book with me for your wedding day. Please fill in my contact form or send me an email directly to check my availability and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Due to the pandemic and the backlog of weddings, brides are now booking suppliers in 12-18 months in advance so I would recommend booking as early as you can to save disappointment.

Please note - your booking isn’t secure until the booking fee has been paid.

Do you have a minimum party size & how large of a party can I have?

I have a minimum party size of 3 people. In terms of the largest size, depending on your ceremony start time I can do up to 7 people on my own. Any larger than this will require an assistant which will be an additional charge, meaning we could do a party size of up to 12.

Do I need a trial?

A trial for the bride is required for all bookings and are optional for the bridal party. I always recommend at least one bridesmaid having a trial, so the bride can see how the party is going to look on the day. Currently, trials are only available Monday – Friday from April - October due to being peak wedding season. November - March I can offer Saturdays & Sundays.

Booking your trial in around 1-3 months before your wedding works really well, by this time you’ll have a colour theme, hopefully have your dress & an idea of how your hair is going to look. From here, we can create the perfect bridal look for you.

What happens at a trial?

During your trial, we will initially sit down & discuss your wedding day. I like to find out your colour scheme, how you are having your hair etc. to get an idea of the vibe. It’s great to bring inspiration with you to get an idea of what you are after, which can be found here. Be sure to wear white or a similar colour that you’ll be wearing on the day. It’s also a good idea to wear your hair in a similar style so you can see the final look come together.

It’s great to find out if you have specific skin concerns or preferences to begin with so we can create a long lasting look that compliments you perfectly.

I will create a look based on everything we have discussed and at the end, we’ll take some photos. You’ll be able to wear the makeup for the remainder of the day and you’ll be able to provide me with any feedback that you may have.

After your trial, I will send you a list of all the products I have used incase you’d like to purchase any yourself. You can use my Lookfantastic discount code for 20% off! LFTFMUBYCARLIE

Can you hold dates if I’m still deciding?

The demand for bridal makeup services during peak wedding season is very high, and unfortunately for that reason I cannot hold onto dates without a booking fee after your initial enquiry.

What can I expect on my wedding morning?

Before your big day, I’ll be sending over a schedule for the morning. This is vital to ensuring you have a smooth running & relaxed morning. This is also beneficial for you, as you’ll be able to provide this to your hairstylist. Most of my brides allocate a bridesmaid to be in charge of the schedule to ensure everyone is where they need to be.

I will usually arrive around 15-30 minutes before our agreed start time to set up my station & find the best lighting at the venue.

The morning will be a fun, relaxed setting & you will make some precious memories with your bridal party.

Bridesmaids take around 45 minutes & the bride takes around an hour & 15 minutes. Towards the end of the morning, I always allocate enough time in the schedule for touch ups for the bride & bridal party.

Why is my start time so early?

As mentioned above, your makeup artist & hair stylist will send over a schedule, this will give you a run down of when we need everyone in the seat. If you get a 6/7am start time on your schedule- this is for good reason,

  • Setting up my station & lighting can take 15-30 minutes

  • The brides makeup takes at least an hour and 15 minutes

  • Bridesmaids makeup takes 45 minutes to an hour to complete

  • Putting on dresses can take 30 minutes

I always allow at least an hour and a half at the end of the morning for people to get into dresses, touch ups, photographs, unexpected issues etc. Delays can happen, so I would rather arrive early & give us time at the end of the morning so you can have a stress free morning.

Please note - if your venue has told you you cannot get entry to the bridal suit until, for example, 9am & your ceremony is at 1, you have a bridal party of 6 - you will need to factor into your morning getting ready elsewhere before moving over to your venue.
